The combination of abstraction and gesture excites me. Working on pieces large and small, I use a variety of material including canvas, wood, foil tape, metal, charcoal, paint, inks, and mixed media. Drawing and scoring, frenetic, compulsive and emotive, the most important tool I use is a simple electric engraver; an instrument I’ve used since 1999. I spontaneously create with color and texture using figures, faces, and icons in the search for a deeper understanding of life — a connection that all life forms, seen and unseen, share. I work on an emotional level without preconceived ideas of the outcome. Creating art is my way of releasing something inside and I work quickly with a tremendous amount of energy.
