Carol Dalton was born in Compton, California in 1952 and attended schools in Long Beach and Carpinteria. After graduating, she attended the Santa Barbara Art Institute, an arm of Brooks Institute, from 1971 to 1974, studying with artists/instructors James Jarvais, Ray Strong and William Hesthal. In 1974 Carol left school to travel around Europe for several months, studying independently, visiting the great museums and gaining a rich cultural awareness.
Shortly after returning to the US, Carol and partner/future husband, Lowell Dalton, moved to Emeryville for studio space and the nearby cultural exposure of San Francisco. They created a ceramic jewelry business, while continuing their painting and drawing. In 1984, after moving to Benicia, California, Carol and Lowell purchased Benicia Frame, and have worked as partners to the present in the picture framing business.
Carol found time to paint, draw and print during the years after art school. She has exhibited her work in Northern California in several galleries and is included in private and public collections here and abroad. She currently maintains a studio in the Historic Benicia Arsenal.
